Method:
Tip of the ring finger touches the tip of the thumb, with the other three fingers stretched out.

Specialty:
It reduces all physical weaknesses.

Time Duration:
15 to 20 Min. You can practice it any time you want.

Benefits:
•It helps to increase the weight for weak people
•It improves the complexion of skin and makes the skin to glow
•It makes the body active by keeping it healthy

I would like to share my knowledge on “Mudras” (in tamil muthirai – முத்திரை) on next few blogs.
Few basics first, The fingers (on hand) represent 5 elements as below

Thumb – Fire Element
Index – Air
Middle – Sky / Akash / Universe
Ring – Earth
Little - Water

So “pressing” or “positioning” the fingers in particular way improves the influence of the 5 elements in our body. As we all know the Human Body intern contains of all this 5 elements. Cultivating and maintaining balance among the 5 elements is very important for healthy life. Excess or disproportion of the 5 elements in body causes diseases.

With this basics, we start our first mudra which is “Gyan Mudra’ (in tamil அறிவு முத்திரை)

Method:Touch the tip of the thumb to the tip of the index finger, with the other three fingers stretched out.

Specialty:As it is a mudra of knowledge, it enhances the knowledge. The tip of thumb has centers of pituitary and endocrine glands. When we press these centers by index finger the two glands work actively.

Time duration:There is no particular time duration for this mudra. You can practice by sitting, standing or lying on bed whenever and wherever you have time. Duration could be 15 to 20 minutes.

Benefits:* Increases memory power and sharpens the brain
* Enhances concentration and prevents Insomnia
* If we practice it regularly, it will cure all psychological disorders like Mental, Hysteria, Anger and Depression

கை கொடுத்தல்.

ஒரு ஆண் – மறு ஆண் – க்கு கை கொடுத்தல் இயல்பு. கை கொடுக்கும் போது மெதுவாக கொடுக்காவும். இரு கை உபயோகிக்கவும்.

ஒரு ஆண் – மறு பெண் - க்கு கை கொடுத்தல் இயல்பு இல்லை. ஆனால் பெண் ஒருவர் கை கொடுத்தல் நீங்கள் கை கொடுக்கலாம். Ladies should initiate the “shake hand” first.

நண்பர் வீட்டுக்கு சென்றால், காலணி கழற்றி விட்டு செல்லுங்கள்.

பொதுவாக நண்பர் வீட்டுக்கு சென்றால் குடி தண்ணிர் (அல்லது பானம்) தருவது இயல்பு மறுக்காமல் ஏற்று கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
பொதுவாக முழுதும் பருகாமல் சிரிது வைக்காவும்.

சாப்பிட வலக்கை உபயோகிக்கவும்.

ஆங்கிலத்தில்.....
Do and Don't while in Indonesia.

Although handshakes are generally acceptable for both men and women.
The traditional greeting or salam resembles a handshake with both hands but without the grasp. A handshake should only be initiated by ladies.

The man offers both hands, lightly touches his friends outstretched hands, and then brings his hands to his chest to mean, "I greet you from my heart". The visitor should reciprocate the salam.

Shoes must always be removed when entering a home.
Drinks are generally offered to guests. It is polite to accept.

The right hand is always used when eating with one's hand or giving and receiving objects.
Shoes must be removed when entering places of worship such as mosques and temples.

The country's large Muslim population does not drink alcohol

Surabaya - சுராபாயா

Dear Readers,

சுறாபாயா (சுராபாயா) – கிழக்கு ஜாவா தீவில் உள்ள மிக பெரிய ஊர். கடலும் கடல் சார்ந்த் இடம். சென்னை மாதிரி வெயில். ஆனால் அமைதியான இடம். நல்ல மக்கள், காற்று (இன்னும் மாசுபட), நல்ல அமைதியான சூழல்.

சுராபாயா அல்லது சுரபாயா என்ற பெயர் சுறா மற்றும் பயா அதாவது நீர் மற்றும் நிலம் என்றும் அர்த்தம்.

இங்கு ஆச்சரியமான விசயம் என்ன என்றால் இந்த இரு வார்த்தைகள் தமிழ் மற்றும் ஸ்மஸ்கிரித்தில் வாழக்கில் உள்ள வார்த்தைகள். இன்றும் தமிழில் “சுரா மீன்” அன்றாட உபயோகத்தில் உள்ள வார்த்தைகள்.

மற்ற ஓரு அர்த்தம் –
சுறா – நீர் – வாழ்க்கை
பயா – நிலம் – விதி (சூழல்கள், இன்பம் மற்றும் துன்பம்)

அதாவது வாழ்க்கையில் வரும் இன்பம் மற்றும் துன்பங்கலை பிரதிபலிக்கிர இடம். கிழோ உள்ள படம் சுராபாயா – வின் சிம்பல்.

எனக்கு ஆச்சரியமான விசயம், எப்படி நம்ப ஆளு (அல்லது தமிழ் மொழி) இங்கு வந்தது.





Surabaya - the second biggest city (after Jakarta) in java island is Surabaya. If you are Indonesian I am sure that you know the meaning of Surabaya.

Sura means fish and baya means crocodile, Fish represents the sea and baya land, means the place where the sea and land meets.

Another interesting interpretation is that fish represents the life and baya represents danger thus forming the meaning of life facing unknown dangers / struggles.
The interesting thing here is both words found in south Indian language and still being used in conversation.

The "sura" in tamil means the shark fish and the "baya" means crocodile though this word seems to originate from Sanskrit and we all know both languages are heavily inter connected.

The relation between south Indian kings and their history of them ruling Indonesia will have more insights if the link between this Javanese language and south Indian language explored further in details.
How this language brought to the Indonesian people. Language came first or South Indian Kings bring the languages & culture here?

There is another city near Surabaya named Malang was the capital of Hindu king Sanjaya .
What about his ancestors? When Hinduism is brought to Indoneisa?
There are some Sanskrit inscriptions written found in these places. I believe a study on the relationship between the languages could reveal lot more about Indonesian people and their heritages.
